The Roseau County Board has designated the Roseau Times-Region its official newspaper for 2026. The Times-Region publishing bid was four dollars and sixty-five cents per column inch. The Greenbush Tribune offered the other bid and was awarded second publishing for this year. The county is required to designate two publications. In-county circulation of the Times-Region is just under twenty-three hundred subscribers. In-county circulation of the Tribune is six hundred and fifty.

Roseau Community Development Coordinator Todd Peterson told the City Council this month that he expects the 2025 final budget to “finish close to even, or slightly in the black.” The council had projected a one-point-six million dollar deficit last year. Peterson said the city is still expecting about seven hundred thousand dollars in reimbursements for 2025 projects.

The Roseau School Board will meet tomorrow and hold their organizational meeting for 2026. At that meeting they will elect the chair, vice chair, clerk, and treasurer.

The Lake of the Woods County Board will meet tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

The past couple weeks we had promoted a Knights of Columbus free throw contest held at the Roseau School. Winners from that event included Maggie Hayden, Micah Anderson, Elin Didrikson, Harrison Herling, Gracie Hayden, Greyson Mather, Kodi Anderson, Caleb Anderson, Haddie Berggren, Eli Nichols, Leva Ulvin, Asa Butler, and James Johson.

In this past weekend’s Roseau Times-Region, Wild 102 sports producer Corey “Grizz” Armstrong was featured in an article with Jeff Olsen. You can find Grizz daylighting at Fleet Supply in Roseau.

For fishing enthusiasts, Jeff Wegand is going to partner with the Folk School Warroad for a fly tying class on January 25. You’ll learn fly tying techniques by completing several walleye bucktails, nymphs, and jigheads. The event runs from 6 to 9 in the evening.
