Florence E. Thyng was born on April 24, 1938, in Lynn, Massachusetts, to
George and Bessie (Hamilton) Builder. Then, as a young child, she moved
to Waterboro, Maine. In 1959 she married Roger Thyng, and had three
children. She worked on and off as a childcare provider, worked at shoe
factories, and then woolen factories.
In 1986, she, with a couple of friends, drove from Maine to Minnesota in a
RV where she then resided in Roseau; she lived at Sunburst Apartments
for 22 years until she had to move into LifeCare Roseau Manor in 2025.
She enjoyed crocheting and reading books until her eyesight got worse,
and she loved getting together with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her son (Richard Thyng) of Warroad, parents
and her brother (Gene Hamilton) and half-sister.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Thyng) Lee of Roseau, MN, and
Donald Thyng of Waterboro, Maine.
7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held in the summer of 2027 at Pine Grove Cemetery in North Waterboro, Maine.
