06/19/2025

Jesse Glenn Olson of Frazee, formerly of Roseau, passed away in late May 2025 at the age of 42.

Jesse was born in Roseau on June 13, 1982, to Terry and Judy Olson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau.

After graduating from Hawley High School, Jesse joined the U.S. Marine Corps. There he served honorably as a mechanic. He toured in the Middle East participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a Marine mechanic, he worked on Humvees, tanks, and jeeps.

In his free time, Jesse played golf and hunted. He loved both ice fishing and open water fishing. He began to ice fish early in life, catching his first fish at age 2. More recently he caught a 50-inch sturgeon. He was also a good poker player, twice winning Texas Hold’em tournaments. Cribbage was another game that he played well, learning to play from his Grandpa Glenn.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Terry Olson and Judy Oxton; his young son, Gavin Taylor Hill-Olson; half-sister Leah Pawlowski; stepbrothers Adrian, Rory, and Jayce Oxton; stepsisters Nicki Wenzel and Cassie Braun; and stepmother Tamra Olson.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Ilene Johnson and Orvel and Harriet Olson.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.
