Amy Klobuchar announced that she has filed the necessary paperwork to run for the governor of Minnesota in next year’s election. This still does not serve as an official announcement that she will, but clears this hurdle if she were to decide to do so.
The Roseau City Council approved submission of a “Protect” grant application. Money from that grant is intended to improve drainage along Eleventh Street Northeast, adjacent to the Roseau School softball fields. The council also approved applying for a “No Child Left Inside” grant. If received, that money would be used for Maranda Peterson’s Roseau Summer Adventure Program.
The American Soybean Association highlighted the continued need for additional farm support. While ASA appreciates the administration partially addressing high production costs through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA), it only offered a fraction of relief for the impact of market losses on harvested acres of U.S. soybeans in 2025.
China has bought about 12 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans, fulfilling a U.S.-stated pledge to purchase that volume by the end of February. “Further purchases of U.S. soybeans are unlikely until the next U.S. new crop in September unless prices are competitive with South American soybean prices,” said one of the sources familiar with details of the shipment.
Market reports indicate that China has eased restrictions on Canadian canola, reopening major import channels and restoring access to one of its most important historical suppliers. Even more notable, trade sources suggest some Chinese importers have already begun making purchases of Canadian canola for delivery after March 1.
