PATRICIA JUNE (LAPOINTE) SAAGGE, ROSEAU OCTOBER 23, 2025

10/31/2025

Patricia June (LaPointe) Saagge passed away at home on October 23, 2025 with her daughters around her and in their hearts at the age of 82.

Patricia was born on June 12, 1943 to George & Zoe (LaBreck) LaPointe. She hailed from Limestone, ME, spending her youth with her large French, Irish, and Scottish family, including 12 brothers and sisters.

She was swept off her feet by LeRoy Saagge, a Roseau, MN native stationed at Caribou Army Base in Caribou, ME. He whisked her to Roseau where they lived all their married lives.

Patsy cared for her four daughters, Jenny, Pamela, Renae and Sherry at home until baby Sherry went to first grade. Pat worked at Marvin Windows for two years and then went to work at Polaris Ind. in Roseau. She worked in many departments and found her work “home” in the welding department, forging deep friendships with her quick wit and beautiful smile. Pat and LeRoy raised their daughters with an enduring sense of humor that lasted right up to her passing. Laughter as well as tears filled the three weeks she had after finding out she had an aggressive, painful cancer.

A huge thank you to the nurses at the hospital in Roseau and the LifeCare Hospice team. They were very caring and gave space for her daughters to help keep their mother comfortable.

Patricia was a devout member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, spending many afternoons with her sisters of faith, going door to door, and to Bible studies. Special thanks goes out to Madeline & Dale Hagen, Bonnie Mielke and Evelyn Megan from the Hall.

A Celebration of Life at The Kingdom Hall will be held at a later date with interment at Opdahl Cemetery near Badger, MN. It is fitting to have her Celebration of Life in the spring as Patsy was known for her gift of growing flowers, always keeping her garden secrets close to her heart.

Patty is survived by daughters Jenny Brandli (Randy) of Warroad, MN, Pamela Swan of Roseau, Renae Metz (Dave) of Spearfish, SD and Sherry Lynn Skoglund (Mike Schell) of Roseau.

Grandchildren Amy, Jacob, Sadie, Jessie, Bryce, Shayna (Zeb), Dalton and Selina (Coty), many great grandchildren, sisters Diane Johnson, Sheila Martinez (Joe) and Vivian Decker, along with many Saagge brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Saagge, infant son Ray Thomas, her parents Zoe & George, mother-in-law Genevieve Moser, brothers Ronald, Roland, Norman, Robert, Eugene, Christopher and Delbert, and sisters Helen and Eileen Cox (who traveled to Roseau to visit from Jacksonville Florida).

Here so briefly, gone too soon and loved so much.
