A Memorial Service for Roger J. Knutson of Williams, MN will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Williams, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at a later date.
Roger Joseph Knuston, 87, died peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN on October 13th, 2025.
Roger was born at home on the family farm in Williams, MN on March 31st, 1938. He graduated from Williams High School in 1956 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966 with a degree in Agricultural Business Administration. Roger also served in the MN National Guard for seven years.
Roger returned to the family farm in 1972 and began farming with his father, raising seed potatoes and small grains. He served on the Lake of the Woods school board, was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, served on the Church Council and was a member of the Red River Valley Potato Growers Association.
After retiring, Roger focused on his woodworking hobby and made a variety of furniture and other items. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Roger married Teresa Sutherland on November 11th, 1978, and became dad to Radford and Erika. Roger and Teresa enjoyed many years of traveling including to all fifty states, a river cruise in Europe and spending winters in Mesa, AZ.
Roger was preceded in death by parents John and Jennie Knutson, brothers Wallace and Dennis Knutson, sisters Jeanne Schneider and Elizabeth Schnuckle, sisters-in-law Arline Knutson and Audrey Knutson, brothers-in-law Jerry Krohn and Jack Schneider, father-in-law Robert Sutherland, and nephews Kim Knutson, Ricky Knutson and Paul Schneider.
Roger is survived by beloved wife Teresa, daughter Erika, son Radford (fiancée Carmen), brother Ken (Shirley) Knutson, sisters Sharon Krohn, Wanda (Reid) Bevis, Phyllis (Buck) Kendig, brother-in-law Richard Schnuckle, sister-in-law Sharon Quaife, mother-in-law Edna Sutherland, brother-in-law Leslie (Susan) Sutherland, and many nieces and nephews.
