Wanda Sue Huerd (Edberg), 68 of Warroad, Minnesota, passed away on July 5th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 12, 1956, in Roseau, Minnesota, Wanda was the youngest of eleven children. She was raised in Wannaska, where her roots ran deep, and later made her home in Warroad. There she spent 42 years of marriage to James Huerd of Warroad, Minnesota, with whom she raised their three daughters and built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. In her later years, Wanda also lived in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, where she made dear friendships that remained close to her heart.
Wanda had a gentle soul and a heart that welcomed everyone. She loved blueberry picking in the Northwoods, tending to her collection of houseplants, crocheting, and sharing homemade baked goods with family and friends. Her home was always open, and her listening ear always available. She had no time for drama or gossip—she chose instead to fill her life with kindness, simple joys, and old-time country music, especially favorites like Conway Twitty.
Her greatest joy came from being a mother to her daughters: Tiffany Huerd of Chesapeake, Virginia; Tanya Huerd of Shoreview, Minnesota; and Tara Hanson (Huerd) of Moorhead, Minnesota. Wanda was so proud of her daughters and all their accomplishments. She also treasured the company of the family pets over the years: Lady, Mindy, Dakota, Reba, Angel, and her beloved grand pups: Bella, Denali, Moss, Mayzley, Miley, and Sheldon.
Some of Wanda’s most cherished memories included Christmas gatherings with family at her family’s farm, countless family gatherings with loved ones, camping trips, and long heartfelt visits over coffee and sweets. She had a particular love for coffee, sweets of any kind, a good steak, pork chops, and the unforgettable pizza burgers from Earl’s.
She faced life with a smile that would warm your heart. She had no problem telling you exactly how she liked her food, but she also possessed the strength and grace to hold back anything that might hurt another’s feelings. Wanda was always there to lend an ear, supporting her daughters through whatever life threw their way, and never asking for anything in return.
Wanda is survived by her daughters; her sister, Margaret Peterson (Edberg) of Gatzke, Minnesota; and her brothers: Thomas Edberg of Wannaska, Minnesota; Jackie Edberg of Warroad, Minnesota; and Ronald Edberg of Wannaska, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Barbara Swanson (Edberg) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Donald Edberg of Warroad, Minnesota; Dale Edberg of Roseau, Minnesota; Ordean Edberg of Wannaska, Minnesota; Clifford Edberg of Skime, Minnesota; and Baby Boy Edberg of Wannaska, Minnesota.
