A Celebration of Life for Clinton J. Gibbons will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Lake Township Hall, Warroad, MN from 1-5PM
Clinton James Gibbons passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026 at the Altru Hospital in Roseau. He was born September 7th, 1944 in Kenora, Ontario, Canada. Clinton’s parents owned a tourist camp that he grew up on until the age of 6. He lived on Flag Island and went to school there until the school closed. He moved to Warroad and then to Kansas where he graduated from high school.
He met the love of his life Beverly Gibbons in 1963 and they were married on June 13th, 1964. This June they celebrated 62 years of a beautiful life together. After getting married they lived in Warroad until he got drafted into the Army.He served his country in Vietnam, they later lived in Alaska for 30 years. They also spent many years in Hawaii, he worked construction in both Alaska and Hawaii. One of his favorite jobs was logging with his brother in law Mark Cole. He loved the outdoors and gardening, he also loved music and played in many bands during his lifetime.
He loved camping, singing and playing his guitar by the campfire with his children and grandchildren and all the many friends he camped with. He taught his children to fly fish on the Chatanika river in Alaska, and loved making his own flies. Clinton was a very honorable, honest and loyal man and loved by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife Bev, (nicknamed tweety) sons Grant Gibbons- wife Laurie, Shannon Gibbons – wife Kimberly, daughter Heidi Webb – Chris, grandchildren Amber Turk, Garrett Gibbons, Jessica Gibbons & Micheal Gibbons (Germany), Jack Oberrecht (Fairbanks Alaska), Christian Gibbons (Mesa Arizona), Pono Ortiz, Maximus Ortiz, Winter Gibbons, Summer Gibbons, Jimmy Gibbons (Kapolei, Hawaii) and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Carol Larsen, Williston North Dakota. Close friends Tish Johnson, and little sis Donna, Rance and Deb Berggren.
Clint was preceded in death by his son Gregary Gibbons, parents Phyllis and Jimmy Gibbons, Father in law and mother in law Chancy and Lenora Cole, Cousins Sammy Gibbons, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and one of his closest friends Jim Welnitz.
