A Memorial Service for Dean Halvorson of Warroad, MN will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN.

Dean Lee Halvorson passed away in Warroad, Minnesota on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 89.

Dean Halvorson was born on February 8, 1932 in Warroad, Minnesota to Herb and Ida (Larson) Halvorson. He attended country school in Swift through the sixth grade and then consolidated to Warroad High School. He graduated in 1950.

He joined the Air Force in 1951 in a four year enlistment. He trained at Northrop AERO Institute in Hawthorne, California in Air Frame Repair. He spent most of the four years at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana working with the 376″” Bomb Wing (maintenance squadron) of the Strategic Air Command. Of his four years, he served a 30 day tour at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska working on B-29 bombers. He held the rank of A/1C upon completion of his service.

After his military service Dean moved to South Minneapolis and worked for forty years with a building management company as a manager for custodial services at the IDS building in downtown Minneapolis.

Dean was married to Darlene Peacock for ten years. They had no children.

He enjoyed working on his car and was a classic and new car enthusiast. The love of his life were his two toy poodles, first Tracy and then Jojo, both of which he doted on and deeply missed after they passed away. Dean will be remembered as a caring, sweet, kindhearted person by all who knew him.

Dean is survived by his twin sister, Dorothy (Halvorson) Brewster, and nieces and nephew, Carol Brewster of Warroad, Judi (Brewster) Barrington of McKinney TX, Robert Brewster of Colorado Springs CO, Sue Brewster of Warroad, and Janet Brewster of East Grand Forks Minnesota.

He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Ebb Oliver Halvorson (1952) and half brothers and sisters, Helmer Halvorson, Josephine Halvorson, Carolyn Braun, and Harriet Halvorson.

Dean moved to the Warroad Care Center January 2019.
