Jean LoAnn (Carlson) Urdahl passed away January 27, 2024 at Lifecare Medical Center in Roseau, MN at the age of 91.

Jean was born September 14, 1932 in Skagen Township. Roseau County to parents Carl B. Carlson and Ethel Mae (Elgin) Carlson. She attended school in Badger and graduated in 1950. After graduation, she attended Moorhead State Teachers College graduating with a teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Thief River Falls, Middle River, Badger, International Falls and Chisholm.

Jean and her beloved husband, Eidor Urdahl, were married June 14, 1953, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Badger. They moved to Chisholm, MN in 1958 where they owned a Phillips 66 service station, with Eidor’s brother, David. Eidor later went back to electric school and worked for Kehne Electric of Hibbing, until he retired due to his health.

Jean and Eidor enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling in their RV. They spent several weeks at Rollag Steam Threshing Reunion every year as volunteers. Most of all, they enjoyed time with their many nieces, nephews and godchildren.

After Eidor’s death in 1995, Jean continued to live in Chisholm and remained active in Faith Lutheran Church, as she had done since 1959.

Many of Jean’s former students kept in touch with her through cards, letters and visits throughout her life.

Jean is survived by her special and loving family, Bernice Hoosier, Barrett Hoosier (Tiana), Keithan Hoang, Ella and Eli Hoosier, sister-in-law, Donna (Warner) Esterberg, many nieces and nephews, great and great-great. Supportive and loving Chisholm family Karen and Bob Shanks.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Chisholm, MN at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 3, 2024. A graveside service will be held at the Badger City Cemetery in Badger, MN at 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2024.
