New snowfall may boost soil moisture across the Red River Valley, which could help soil conditions for the spring.
In preparing for planting season, it is too early to know definitively what to expect, but it will be key to see if the weather can strike the right balance for moisture in the coming months.
On average, March and April see about 13 inches of snow combined in Fargo. How much more snow falls, mixed with how quickly it melts, could make the greatest difference.
Goodridge School is offering tours of the new portion of the building on Tuesday next week to Goodridge residents and landowners, school staff, and families with a student enrolled in Goodridge School.
This is the result of a $21 million referendum passed in 2023. The project included a new performance gym, locker rooms and weight room, community bathrooms, and a concession stand. On the academic side, it included the addition of six classrooms.
The Roseau School Board is scheduled to meet on Monday. On the agenda is discussion about a facilities improvement at the bus garage involving lighting upgrades, with preliminary costs near $10,000.
They’ll also look further into a request from the City of Roseau for an easement to construct a sidewalk connected to the new pedestrian bridge. The school is considering donating that easement, as opposed to seeking compensation, which is reportedly valued at roughly $500. Future maintenance of the sidewalk would also fall on the city, not the school.
They’ll also be looking to accept the resignations of both varsity hockey coaches — Amanda Giles with the girls and Greg Lund with the boys.
It’s a busy weekend with the Warroad Chamber Fishing Derby, snowshoeing at Big Bog State Recreation Area, a fundraising glow dance with Lil Chompers Childcare at the Greenbush gym, the Ross Rink Pond Hockey Classic, and the Blazing Stars Figure Skating Club public performance.

An Oklee, Minnesota, man was sentenced Tuesday, Feb. 17, to 42 months for aiding and abetting a first-degree cocaine sale.
Zachariah John Howard, 23, pleaded guilty to the felony offense in January after his attorney and the prosecutor in the case reached a plea agreement.
In July 2024, Howard got cocaine for Rodney Arlan Smith and gave him a ride to Thief River Falls to sell the drug, according to a probable cause statement filed in the case.
Smith allegedly sold an ounce of cocaine to undercover law enforcement for $2,000.
