ROSEAU COUNTY WILL BE SENDING OUT MAIL-BALLOTS FOR THE MARCH 5 PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ON OR AROUND FEBRUARY 5 TO THOSE IN CITIES AND TOWNSHIPS THAT HAVE CHOSEN TO VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT. ANY ELIGIBLE VOTER WHO IS NOT REGISTERED BY FEBRUARY 13, OR IF YOU NEED TO RECEIVE YOUR BALLOT AT A TEMPORARY ADDRESS, CONTACT THE ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR.

AS SPRING BEGINS TO DRAW CLOSER, AN EARLY FLOOD FORECAST FOR THE GRAND FORKS REGION IS SHOWING MINOR FLOODING TO BE EXPECTED. SNOWFALL HAS BEEN WELL BELOW NORMAL, BUT RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN HAS STILL LED TO ENOUGH WATER THAT IS WAITING TO RUNOFF INTO THE WATERWAYS. MORE FLOOD FORECASTS WILL BE DUE OUT ON FEB 15, FEB 29, AND MARCH 14.

THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE WILL LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE MINNESOTA-NORTH DAKOTA POSTAL DISTRICT AFTER AN AUDIT SHOWED THAT MAIL DELAYS, SECURITY ISSUES, STAFFING, AND LACK OF NECESSARY RESOURCES WERE CAUSING PROBLEMS. US REP ANGIE CRAIG AND REP. PETE STAUBER LED A MINNESOTA DELEGATION IN A BIPARTISAN CALL FOR AN INVESTIGATION. CRAIG SAYS IT COMES AFTER BEING GIVEN “THE RUNAROUND” FOR MORE THAN A YEAR.

MINNESOTA STATE COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE ANNOUNCED A PARTNERSHIP WITH GREEN FLOWER, A CANNABIS EDUCATION AND TRAINING LEADER TO OFFER THREE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS THAT COULD PREPARE STUDENTS FOR CAREERS IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY. THE COURSES ARE ALL OFFERED ENTIRELY ONLINE AND ARE NINE WEEKS LONG. LARGE-SCALE RETAIL SALES OF CANNABIS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN 2025, LEADING TO AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF JOBS REQURIED FOR THE INDUSTRY.

A FUNDRAISER FOR THE ROSEAU-PENNINGTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY AND THE ROSEAU AREA FOOD SHELF IS BEIGN HELD TOMORROW AT REMEDIES IN GREENBUSH. THE ROSEAU EAGLES AERIE AND AUXILIARY IS HELPING TO HOST A SCOTCH DOUBLES POOL TOURNAMENT. REGISTRATION IS AT NOON. COST IS $15 PER PERSON.

A Memorial Service for Quentin F. Grittner of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Interment will take place at Malung Cemetery at a later date.
Quentin passed away at the age of 85.

BLOOD BANKS ARE CALLING FOR DONATIONS, AS THE USUAL WINTER DIP IN DONORS IS BEING FELT. THEY SAY THIS NORMALLY HAPPENS IN THE WINTER DUE TO ILLNESS, TRAVEL, THE HOLIDAYS, AND INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE RECENT FREEZING TEMPERTURES ACROSS MUCH OF THE NATION CAUSED LARGE SCALE CANCELLATIONS OF BLOOD DRIVES. THE RED CROSS WAS EVEN OFFERING UP A CHANCE AT SUPER BOWL TICKETS TO THOSE WHO DONATED IN JANUARY.
