A WINTER STORM IS IN THE FORECAST FOR TOMORROW AND WEDNESDAY, BUT IT SHOULD NARROWLY MISS OUR AREA. WHILE WE COULD SEE A TRACE OF FRESH SNOW MIXED WITH RAIN, AREAS CLOSER TO BAUDETTE ARE IN A BAND OF 2-5 INCHES, AND TOWARDS BEMIDJI AND I-FALLS COULD BE SEEING SIX INCHES PLUS.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCED THAT YOU CAN NOW APPLY FOR THE ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM COMPLETELY ONLINE. PREVIOUSLY, YOU COULD ACCESS APPLICATIONS ONLINE, BUT THOSE WOULD NEED TO BE DELIVERED BY MAIL OR IN PERSON, SLOWING DOWN THE PROCESS. ADDITIONALLY, 40 PERCENT OF APPLICATIONS ARE SLOWED FURTHER WHEN APPLICANTS FOUND OUT THAT SOME SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WERE MISSING. MORE THAN 114,000 MINNESOTANS HAVE APPLIED FOR HELP SINCE THE PROGRAM YEAR BEGAN IN OCTOBER, THAT’S A 5.5 PERCENT INCREASE OVER THIS TIME LAST YEAR.
