Don’t stash those holiday lights away just yet! On Friday, February 27, Roseau will host their first ever winter parade. They invite all individuals, businesses, school groups, and organizations to enter a float or vehicle, and walking groups and bands are welcome. It’ll run from the railroad crossing on Main Avenue South to south of Highway 11 and begin at 6:30 PM.

The Minnesota Association of Townships (MAT) announces its 2026 scholarship program, which will award up to five $2,000 scholarships to high school juniors. The scholarship program is designed to heighten awareness among young people about Minnesota’s grassroots township government. All students currently enrolled in 11th grade, reside in a Minnesota township, and attend a Minnesota public, private, or parochial school, or a home-study program, are eligible. Applicants should submit a written essay using critical thinking on the topic of promoting awareness of township government by June 1.
The essay question on promoting township government focuses on townships and their coordination with county engineers, and why pursuing a career in civil engineering can be important. The MN Association of Townships website has exact wording for the question and application details.

The Roseau County Board approved calling for bids for three highway projects in 2026. Highway Engineer Ericka Halstensgard says the county plans to do mill and overlay work on County State Aid Highway Five, from the forest to Highway Eleven, and on CSAH Roads Seventy-Two and Seventy-Seven. Those roads are Center Street and the hospital road in the City of Roseau.
