THE POLK COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS NOW SAYING THAT THE REPORTS OF THE ABDUCTION IN RURAL EAST GRAND FORKS ON MONDAY IS UNFOUNDED. THEY DID NOT ELABORATE ON THE NEW INFORMATION THAT WAS GATHERED THAT LED TO THIS CONCLUSION.
BOUNDARY WATERS CANOE AREA WILDERNESS PERMITS FOR SUMMER TRIPS BECAME AVAILABLE YESTERDAY. ANY TRIP INTO THE AREA BETWEEN MAY 1 AND SEPTEMBER 30 REQUIRES A PERMIT.
ROSEAU HAD FOUR KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS COMPETE YESTERDAY IN CROOKSTON, PLACING 6TH, 10TH, 17TH, AND 22ND. THAT 6TH PLACE TEAM WAS MADE UP ON GRANT OSWEILER, JONATHON BAGLIEN, ISAAC SCHNEIDER, AND STEVEN WRIGHT.

CLASSES WERE CANCELLED ON JANUARY 22ND FOR WADENA-DEER CREEK SCHOOLS AFTER REPORTS OF A THREAT. THE MOTHER OF THE GIRL WHO RECEIVED THOSE THREATS IS SAYING THEY ARE RACIALLY MOTIVATED. THAT 10TH GRADER FROM AN INTERRACIAL FAMILY ALLEGEDLY RECEIVED A SNAPCHAT FROM ANOTHER MALE 10TH GRADE STUDENT, SAYING HE WAS GOING TO KILL HER AND INCLUDED IMAGES OF HIS GUNS. THE MOTHER SAYS HER DAUGHTER HAS DEALT WITH THIS BOY AND OTHERS FOR SOME TIME. THE ONE WHO SENT THE VIDEO HAS BEEN EXPELLED, AND THE FAMILY HAS WITHDRAWN THE GIRL FROM THE DISTRICT.
A Memorial service for Roger Klemetson will be held at 2PM, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor David Neimela presiding.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment services will be held at Badger Creek Cemetery at a later date.
A Funeral Service for Robert “Bob” A. Slick of Baudette, MN will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00PM at First Lutheran Church in Baudette, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Elm Park Cemetery. A reception and Celebration of Bob’s Life will follow the church service at the VFW in Baudette.
Bob passed away at the age of 76.
A memorial service for Vernon(Bud), Leroy Johnson will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau, Minnesota. Bud passed away on December 29, 2023 at Oak Manor in Roseau, Minnesota at the age of 94 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sherry Hunt of Warroad will take place on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 1:30 pm, with a visitation an hour prior at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. The night before, there will also be a visitation at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Interment will take place at Landstad Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
A Funeral Service for Lucille O. Skogstad of Roseau, MN will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 1:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Pinecreek Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Lucille passed away at the age of 88.
A Memorial Service for Joan Wensloff of Roseau, MN will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Falun Cemetery at a later date.
Joan passed away at the age of 89.
