THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE STATE IS ALREADY PREPARING THE REMOVE ICE HOUSES FROM LAKES. THE SOUTHERN TWO-THIRDS OF THE STATE MUST HAVE THOSE SHELTERS REMOVED BY MONDAY. IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE, THE DEADLINE ISN’T UNTIL MARCH 18TH.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR GENE BRATENG OF ROSEAU IS SATURDAY MORNING AT ELEVEN AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN ROSEAU.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. GENE BRATENG WAS 59.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MARK AGRE OF KARLSTAD ARE SATURDAY MORNING AT  10:30 AT BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH OF GREENBUSH.  VISITATION IS TOMORROW EVENING AFTER SIX, WITH A ROSARY AND SEVEN O’CLOCK PRAYER SERVICE AT THE CHURCH. MARK AGRE WAS 58.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR THELMA ANDERSON OF WARROAD IS SATURDAY MORNING AT 10:30  AT JOHNSON FUNERAL SERVICE IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.  VISITATION IS AN HOUR PRIOR. THELMA ANDERSON WAS 97.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL MEETS ON MONDAY.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY TOWNSHIP OFFICERS ASSOCIATION HELD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING TUESDAY EVENING AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER;  AND RE-ELECTED JON JOHNSON OF ROSS TOWNSHIP A DISTRICT DIRECTOR. CLARICE DAHLBERG OF CEDARBEND TOWNSHIP WAS ALSO ELECTED TO A DISTRICT DIRECTOR’S POSITION. ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD CHAIR JACK SWANSON INTRODUCED HIS FELLOW COMMISSIONERS  (ROGER FALK,  RUSS WALKER,  DARRYL WICKLUND AND JOHN HORNER). COUNTY SHERIFF STEVE GUST,  ASSESSOR LIZ LUND,  AUDITOR MARTIE MONSRUD AND HIGHWAY ENGINEER BRIAN KETRING ALSO SPOKE; AS DID JILL HALL,  FROM THE MINNESOTA ASSOCIATION OF TOWNSHIPS BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

A SECOND ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE FOR WARROAD’S DISCOVERY AND DEVELOPMENT HUB IS TODAY FROM EIGHT TO FIVE; AND OFFICIALS FROM THE LAKE OF THE WOODS BREWING COMPANY WILL BE AT THE HUB THIS AFTERNOON AT THREE.

A BENEFIT DINNER FOR TOM DURAY,  TO DEFRAY MEDICAL EXPENSES,  IS SATURDAY  (4-8 PM)  AT THE GREENBUSH AMERICAN LEGION.

A  33RD ANNUAL KITTSON COUNTY DUCKS UNLIMITED BANQUET IS TOMORROW EVENING AT THE HALLOCK CITY HALL.

CANDLELIGHT SKIING AND SNOWSHOEING IS SATURDAY EVENING AT ZIPPEL BAY STATE PARK,  NORTH OF WILLIAMS.

THE NORTHWEST ANGLE EDGE RIDERS HOST THEIR 18TH ANNUAL SNOW RALLY SATURDAY AT SUNSET LODGE ON OAK ISLAND.

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL GRANTS IS TOMORROW.   FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES EXIST FOR FESTIVALS,  CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS AND COMMUNITY THEATRE PROJECTS  (AMONG OTHER THINGS).   ROSEAU IS ONE OF SEVEN COUNTIES IN THE ARTS COUNCIL SERVICE AREA.
