AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED TO THE LUND BOAT FACTORY IN NEW YORK MILLS EARLY THIS MORNING ON REPORTS OF AN ACTIVE SHOOTER. BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED, EMPLOYEES HAD ALREADY RESTRAINED THE SHOOTER. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE SHOOTER WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY, BUT HIS IDENTITY AND ANY OTHER DETAILS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE AVAILABLE.

IT’S BEEN A BAD WINTER FOR SNOWMOBILING FATALITIES IN THE STATE, AS WE SAW ANOTHER OCCUR ON TUESDAY NEAR PEQUOT LAKES. A 54-YEAR OLD MAN FROM EDEN PRAIRIE DIED AFTER HE WAS THROWN FROM HIS MACHINE AND STRUCK A POWER POLE. REPORTS SAY HE WAS TRYING TO NAVIGATE A DRIVEWAY APPROACH AT THE TIME.

THIEF RIVER FALLS SCHOOLS HAS MADE A DECISION ON A NEW SUPERINTENDENT, CHRIS MILLS, CURRENTLY THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STEPHEN-ARGYLE, WHERE HE HAS BEEN FOR 23 YEARS. HE COMES IN AT A TOUGH TIME, WHERE LAST YEAR THE DISTRICT CUT ROUGHLY $1.2 MILLION FROM IT’S BUDGET.

A STUDY SHOWS THAT OVERDOSES ARE ON THE RISE IN NORTH-CENTRAL MINNESOTA. THE PAUL BUNYAN DRUG TASK FORCE PARTNERED WITH THE BCA AFTER THERE WERE NINE FATAL OVERDOSES IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS. OVERDOSE NUMBERS IN THEIR SERVICE AREA HAVE GONE FROM 26 IN 2019, TO 88 IN 2020, AND TO 158 IN 2021. DEATHS OVER THAT TIME HAVE MULTIPLIED FIVE TIMES.
