THE ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR WILL CONDUCT A PUBLIC ACCURACY TEST OF ELECTION EQUIPMENT NEXT WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28 AT 10 AM AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY COURTHOUSE BOARD ROOM. THE EQUIPMENT WILL BE USED IN THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ON MARCH 5. POLLING LOCATIONS WILL BE OPEN FROM 7 AM TO 8 PM, WITH EXCEPTION OF THOSE VOTING IN MALUNG TOWNSHIP AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. THAT LOCATION WILL OPEN AT 10 AM.

PRE-REGISRTATION FOR A FIREARMS SAFETY CLASS HELD IN ROSEAU WILL END ON FEBRUARY 26. STUDENTS MUST BE 11 YEARS OLD TO TAKE THE CLASS. THOSE BEGIN MARCH 4 AND RUN FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE MONDAY AND TUESDAY EVENINGS. PRE-REGISTRATION CAN BE DONE AT COAST TRUE VALUE IN ROSEAU.

THE WARROAD SCHOOL BOARD WILL BE MEETING IN REGULAR MONTHLY SESSION THIS MORNING.

SOME RURAL DFL LEADERS HAVE PUT FORTH A BILL THAT WOULD PROVIDE A ONE-TIME, $120 MILLION GRANT THAT WOULD HELP TO FUND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES IN GREATER MINNESOTA, WHERE RESPONSE TIMES HAVE GROWN TO WHAT SOME CALL UNACCEPTABLE LEVELS. IT LARGELY DUE TO MEDICARE AND MEDICAID ONLY PARTIALLY FUNDING SERVICES, BUT EMPLOYEE RETENTION HAS ALSO BEEN A PROBLEM.

AFTER CERTIFIED MEASUREMENTS, A BULL ELK SHOT IN SEPTEMBER BY ROSEAU’S GARY PRZEKWAS WILL EASILY BECOME THE LARGEST NON-TYPICAL BULL ELK EVER TAKEN BY A HUNTER IN MINNESOTA. THE 10X11 RACK HAD A NET SCORE OF 413 3/8 INCHES, BETTER THAN NOW 2ND PLACE OF 362 7/8 INCHES. THE LARGEST EVER NON-TYPICAL ELK WAS FOUND DEAD IN KITTSON COUNTY IN 2010, 458 4/8 INCHES.
