A 37 YEAR OLD BRAINERD WOMAN WAS RECENTLY SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR IN JAIL, BUT THAT SENTENCE WAS STAYED FOR TWO YEARS AS SHE SERVES PROBATION. DAYNA LEIGH BAKER PLEADED GUILTY TO GROSS MISDEMEANOR MALICIOUS PUNISHMENT OF A CHILD. THE CHARGES CAME AFTER A CHILD WAS DROPPED OFF AT SCHOOL WITH SIGNIFICANT INJURIES. BAKER ENTERED AN ALFORD PLEA AND CONTINUED TO CLAIM HER INNOCENCE.

A THREAT OF A SCHOOL SHOOTING FORCED FERGUS FALLS SCHOOLS INTO A LOCKDOWN YESTERDAY. AFTER GOING THROUGH ALL PROCEDURES, THEY DO NOT BELIEVE THE THREAT WAS CREDIBLE. AN AREA HOSPITAL HAD ALSO RECEIVED A SIMILAR THREAT.

A MAN WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY AFTER AN ALTERCATION IN MCINTOSH THAT LEFT MULTIPLE PEOPLE INJURED, INCLUDING ONE WITH STAB WOUNDS. THE EVENTS OCCURRED A LITTLE AFTER MIDNIGHT AT LITTLE BOBBY’S BAR & GRILL. 19 YEAR OLD JAYDEN RAY OF WINGER WAS THE MAN ARRESTED.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY AUDITOR’S OFFICE HAS ABSENTEE BALLOTS AVAILABLE FOR THE MARCH 5, 2024 PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION PRIMARY ELECTION. THOSE ARE AVIALBE TO THOSE WHO WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE IN PERSON. YOU CAN REQUEST A BALLOT ONLINE, BY DOWNLOAD, BY EMAIL, OR CLAL 218-463-1282. THOSE WOULD NEED TO BE RETURNED BY 8 PM ON MARCH 5. IF MAILING, PLEASE ALLOW 5-7 DAYS FOR DELIVERY.

A KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FREE THROW CONTEST WILL BE HELD THIS FRIDAY IN THE ROSEAU ELEMTATRY GYMNASIUM. THAT EVENT IS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS AGED 9-14, AS OF JANUARY 1 OF THIS YEAR. THE EVENT IS FREE.
