THE TWO CANADIAN WOMEN THAT WERE DETAINED AT THE WARROAD PORT OF ENTRY ON MARCH 31, AFTER A BRICK OF COCAINE WEIGHING 287 GRAMS WAS FOUDN IN THEIR VEHICLE APPEARED IN ROSEAU COUNTY COURT ON MONDAY. BOTH FACE CHARGES WITH MAXIMUM PENALTIES OF UP TO 40 YEARS IN PRISON. BOTH ARE FROM WINNIPEG. ONE OF THE WOMEN SAID SHE WAS PAID $2000 TO BRING THE DRUGS TO ONTARIO, AND ACCIDENTALLY WOUND UP AT THE BORDER CROSSING.

A LENGTHY AND LARGE SCALE ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WILL BEGIN ON HIGHWAY 11 IN WARROAD BEGINNING MAY 13. THE PROJECT INCLUDES RESURFACING OF HIGHWAY 11, SIDEWALK UPGRADES, AND INSTALLING A ROUNDABOUT AT HIGHWAYS 11 AND 313. EXPECT LANE CLOSURES AND DELAYS AND TRUCK TRAFFIC WILL BE DETOURED USING COUNTY ROADS 9 AND 12. THE PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO GO THROUGH OCTOBER AND RESUME IN THE SPRING OF 2025. THERE IS A PUBLIC MEETING ON APRIL 23 AT WARROAD CITY HALL FROM 5-6 PM.

A Memorial Service for Oscar Maus of Baudette, MN will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 2:00PM at Wabanica Lutheran Church in Baudette, MN. Interment will take place at Wabanica Cemetery.
Oscar passed away at the age of 96.

A Memorial Service for Marilyn J. Dahlquist will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00PM at the Malung Community Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN.
Marilyn passed away at the age of 89.
