STATE LEADERS ARE NOW SAYING THAT THE PROGRAM TO PROVIDE FREE SCHOOL MEALS TO ALL STUDENTS IS GOING TO COST SIGNIFICANTLY MORE THAN ORIGINALLY BUDGETED. $81 MILLION MORE OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS AND $95 MILLION MORE IN THE TWO YEARS AFTER THAT. GOVERNOR WALZ CALLED THE PROGRAM AN “INVESTMENT I WILL DEFEND ALL DAY.” WHILE REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVE KRISTIN ROBBINS FROM MAPLE GROVE SAID THE FLAW IS IN GIVING THE FREE MEALS TO “ALL THE WEALTHY FAMILIES”.

AFTER A CLOSURE YESTERDAY, I-29 FROM GRAND FORKS TO THE CANADIAN BORDER DID RE-OPEN LATER IN THE DAY, BUT FLIGHTS OUT OF GRAND FORKS AIRPORT WERE NOT TO RESUME UNTIL THIS MORNING.
