AT JANUARY BOARD MEETINGS, CODY HASBARGEN WAS APPOINTED CHAIR OF THE LAKE OF THE WOODS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR 2024; JON WAIBEL WAS APPOINTED VICE CHAIR.
THEY SET ANNUAL SALARIES FOR THOSE HOLDING ELECTED OFFICE.
IN A NORTHWEST ANGLE UPDATE, COUNTY TREASURER HANSON INFORMED THE BOARD THAT CHECKS FOR FORGIVABLE LOANS WERE SENT OUT ON DECEMBER 29, 2023 FOR A TOTAL OF $2.1 MILLION, THE AMOUNT THAT WAS APPROVED DURING 2023 LEGISLATION.

DUE TO POOR ICE CONDITIONS, THE WANNASKA LIONS FISHING DERBY THIS SATURDAY AT HAYES LAKE HAS BEEN CANCELLED. THEY WILL STILL HOLD THEIR RAFFLE DRAWINGS ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

THE ROSEAU KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAMS PLACED 5TH, 9TH, AND 25TH YESTERDAY. THAT TOP TEAM CONSISTED OF ERIC WENSLOFF, LELIA JOHNSON, SAMANTHA BUTLER, SETH ERICKSON, AND SAM GROSS.

CHRIS FUNK, THE WONDERIST, WILL PERFORM THIS SUNDAY EVENING AT THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATER AS PART OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SERIES.

James “Jim” Novotny, age 72, of Roseau, MN, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday February 15, 2024, at the American Legion Post #24 in Roseau, MN. The Honor Guard Salute will be at 4 pm.
