THE THIEF RIVER FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS SAYING THAT THE OFFICIAL CAUSE OF DEATH OF TWO PEOPLE FOUND INSIDE A RUNNING CAR ON JANUARY 22 WAS FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A CARPORT THAT HAD NO AIRFLOW. THE TWO WERE IDENTIFIED AS 28-YEAR OLD KENIA SARAHI VASQUEZ-BLANDON AND 27-YEAR OLD ALEXANDER RIVERA GONZALEZ. THEY DO NOT SUSPECT FOUL PLAY.

THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA ARTS COUNCIL IS ACCEPTING WORK FOR THEIR ANNUAL EXHIBIT. THE DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 29. THERE WILL BE $2300 IN VARIOUS CASH PRIZES AWARDED. THOSE CAN COME FROM BOTH ADULT AND HIGH SCHOOL ARTISTS.

37 YEAR OLD KEVIN CORONA OF CROOKSTON WAS SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR THE ATTEMPTED MURDER OF HIS MOTHER. HE WAS THE MAN WHO ATTACKED THIS MOTHER OUTSIDE OF HER HOME WITH A KNIFE AND CHOKED HER. HE WAS LIVING WITH HER AT THE TIME AND REPORTEDLY UPSET THAT SHE PLANNED TO RELOCATE.

A ROCHESTER MIDDLE SCHOOL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO KEEP THE BISON AS THEIR SCHOOL MASCOT AND LOGO AFTER RECEIVING MULTIPLE DENIALS AFTER SEEKING AN EXEMPTION FROM THE RULE THAT LOOKS TO DO AWAY WITH NATIVE AMERICAN IMAGERY. A FEW OTHER MINNESOTA SCHOOLS SUFFERED THE SAME FATE. WARROAD WAS ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY SEEK AN EXEMPTION TO KEEP THE WARRIOR NICKNAME AND LOGO.
