Marilyn June Dahlquist, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully, on April 3, 2024, with family by her side. She was just shy of her 90th birthday.

Marilyn was born May 21, 1934, to Cora and Lawrence Larson in a newly built grainery near Wannaska on her uncle’s property. After moving frequently as a child, her family settled in Wannaska, entering grade schools in the area. In 9th grade she went to Roseau School where she attended through the 11th grade. She began working various jobs at the Wannaska Cafe, Guest House, and also candled eggs at the Creamery. In later years, she received her GED alongside her husband and finished her career at Polaris Industries retiring in 1997 after 13 years.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Leland Earl Dahlquist on June 4, 1952 at the Roseau County Courthouse, marking the beginning of a shared life of 65 years filled with love and devotion to each other and to the Lord. This union blessed them with five daughters, Gwen, Julie, Colleen, Sonia, and Beth. They made their homes in Aurora, Gilbert, Hoyt Lakes, Wannaska, wintered in Arizona, the family farm and in 2016 made their final home at Northstar Apartments where they enjoyed the many friendships they acquired.

Marilyn’s past times included quilting, embroidering, and collecting buttons. There are many memories of her playing the spoons to old accordion music that helped keep her arthritic hands limber and family meals around the big table in Wannaska.
