THE WARROAD SCHOOL’S AMERICAN INDIAN PARENT COMMITTEE MEETS THIS EVENING  (5-6 PM)  AT THE WARROAD SCHOOL DISTRICT CONFERENCE ROOM.  THEY’LL BE ELECTING MEMBERS FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR. TERESA HARROLD HAS MORE INFORMATION  ( 386-6116 ).

NEARLY HALF THE CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 IN ROSEAU COUNTY SINCE EARLY APRIL HAVE OCCURRED IN PEOPLE AGED FIVE TO  TWENTY-NINE. THERE WERE  128 TOTAL CASES ON MONDAY,  AND  59 FELL IN THAT AGE DEMOGRAPHIC.

ROSEAU CITY CREWS HAVE BEEN WORKING ON IMPROVED ACCESS AT THE DAM NORTH OF HIGHWAY ELEVEN.THAT AREA HAS BEEN A POPULAR FISHING SPOT.THERE ARE PROPOSALS FOR A STAIRWAY TO THE RIVERBANK AT THAT SITE,  AND A PEDESTRIAN TRAIL AND BRIDGE.

THE BICYCLE ALLIANCE OF MINNESOTA WAS IN ROSEAU EARLIER THIS MONTH,  TALKING WITH A CITY COMMITTEE ABOUT BECOMING A BIKE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY.

ROSEAU COUNTY HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF STATE GRANT FUNDING FOR IT’S TREATMENT COURTS. THE COUNTY ALSO  APPROPRIATES EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR IT’S DRUG AND   D-U-I  COURTS.

ROSEAU’S  ZACH YON WAS LOOKING AT OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY IN EUROPE THIS WINTER,  MOST RECENTLY IN TRONDHEIM,  NORWAY. BUT YON,  WHO COMPLETED HIS ELIGIBILITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA LAST SPRING,  WASN’T ALLOWED A TRAVEL VISA TO SCANDINAVIA. YON WAS ALSO CONSIDERING OFFERS FROM TEAMS IN GERMANY.

ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL  SCIENCE TEACHER JAKE MACK RESIGNED THAT POSITION IN MID-SEPTEMBER. TRACY BOROWICZ HAS TAKEN OVER AS A LONGTERM SUBSTITUTE.

THE ROSEAU CITY COUNCIL,  THIS MONTH,  HEARD THAT CITATIONS HAVE BEEN SENT TO  NON-COMPLIANT ADDRESSES FROM THIS YEAR’S  CITY CLEANUP REPORT.

A 27 YEAR OLD WADENA WOMAN WAS KILLED EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING  ON HIGHWAY 34 IN OTTER TAIL COUNTY. 23 YEAR OLD TRISTAN WALTER OF WAHPETON,  NORTH DAKOTA STRUCK THE FEMALE PEDESTRIAN JUST BEFORE TWO A.M. THE WOMAN IS THE  34TH PEDESTRIAN KILLED ON MINNESOTA ROADS THIS YEAR.

AMERICORPS MINNESOTA SAYS THE WARROAD AND ROSEAU SCHOOLS ARE STILL LOOKING FOR MATH AND READING TUTORS FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR.WARROAD STILL NEEDS SEVEN TUTORS, AND ROSEAU NEEDS THREE.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE IS HOSTING A  MEET AND GREET FOR  MILITARY SERVICE VETERANS TOMORROW EVENING  (5:30 PM)  AT THE ROSEAU  V.F.W. MARTIN HOWES IS ROSEAU COUNTY’S VETERANS SERVICE OFFICER.

THE ROSEAU EAGLES AUXILIARY HAS IT’S ANNUAL FALL SOUP AND SALAD FUNDRAISER NEXT THURSDAY  (October 8)  AS A  TO-GO  MEAL FROM THE ROSEAU  V.F.W. PROCEEDS GO TO THE LIFECARE DIABETES/ DIALYSIS CENTER.
