SARAH PULK HAS GONE BACK TO BACK AS A GIRLS STATE WRESTLING CHAMPION. THIS YEAR, WRESTLING AT 155 POUNDS, SHE WON HER CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH BY FALL IN THE 1ST.
BGMR’S TRESTON NICHOLS TOOK HOME A 4TH PLACE FINISH AT 285 POUNDS.
KEEGAN VONENDE IN HIS TOURNAMENT RUN PICKED UP TWO VICTORIES BEFORE BEING ELIMINATED.
ROSEAU’S SETH COSSENTINE WAS ONE AND DONE, AFTER LOSING HIS OPENING MATCH BY A FALL IN THE 3RD, AND NOT AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY IN WRESTLEBACKS.

BOYS BASKETBALL:
SECTION 8AA PLAYOFFS:
ROSEAU IS A #10 SEED AND WILL PLAY AT #7 HAWLEY ON THURSDAY. ALSO IN THAT OPENING ROUND, WARROAD IS THE #11 SEED AND OPENS AT #6 D-G-F.
SECTION 8A PLAYOFFS:
IN OPENING ROUND GAMES TONIGHT, STEPHEN-ARGYLE HOSTS CLIMAX-FISHER, WHILE BGMR IS AT KITTSON COUNTY CENTRAL. LAKE OF THE WOODS IS ALSO AT CLEARBROOK-GONVICK. THE REST OF THAT TOURNAMENT WILL RESUME ON THURSDAY, WHERE WE ALREADY KNOW THAT THE NORTHERN FREEZE WILL MEET SACRED HEART AT UM-CROOKSTON. GOODRIDGE-GRYGLA WILL PLAY WARREN AT NCTC.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:
ON SATURDAY, KITTSON COUNTY CENTRAL BEAT CLIMAX-FISHER TO ADVANCE TO A WEDNESDAY SUB-SECTION FINAL WHERE THEY WILL MEET SACRED HEART. THE OTHER SUB-SECTION FINAL WILL FEATURE FOSSTON AND KELLIHER/NORTHOME. THOSE GAMES ARE AT THE RALPH IN THIEF RIVER FALLS.

YOUTH HOCKEY:
WARROAD HAD A CLEAN RUN THROUGH THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT AND IS HEADED TO STATE. ROSEAU’S BANTAMS CAME TWO WINS SHORT OF QUALIFYING.
WARROAD’S PEE WEES WERE ALSO REGIONAL CHAMPIONS AND WILL MAKE STATE. ROSEAU’S PEE WEES PICKED UP ONE WIN IN THAT TOURNEY BEFORE BEING ELIMINATED.
WARROAD’S 12UA GIRLS WILL GO TO STATE AS THE REGIONS 2ND SEED, AFTER A 4-3 OVERTIME WIN OVER THIEF RIVER FALLS TO QUALIFY.

BOYS HOCKEY:
AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT, WARROAD IS A #2 SEED IN THE CLASS A TOURNEY AND WILL OPEN AT 11 AM ON WEDNESDAY AGAINST NEW ULM. WITH A WIN, THEIR POTENTIAL 2ND ROUND OPPONENTS ARE NORTHFIELD OR ST CLOUD CATHEDRAL.
IN THE AA TOURNEY, EDINA IS THE TOP SEED AND WILL PLAY SECTION 8 CHAMP ELK RIVER. CHANHASSEN IS #2 AND GETS ROCHESTER CENTURY, #3 CENTENNIAL WILL PLAY CRETIN-DURHAM HALL, AND #4 WHITE BEAR LAKE PLAYS #5 GRAND RAPIDS.

NHL:
MINNESOTA HELD OFF SAN JOSE FOR A 4-3 WIN. KARILL KAPRIZOV HAD A HAT TRICK.
NBA:
MINNESOTA DROPPED A CLOSE ONE 89-88 TO THE LA CLIPPERS.
NFL:
LONGTIME NFL REPORTER CHRIS MORTENSON HAS DIED AT HE AGE OF 72. HE JOINED ESPN IN 1991 AND WAS WITH THEM UNTIL JUST LAST YEAR. HE HAD TAKEN A SMALLER ROLE SINCE 2016 WHEN HE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THROAT CANCER.
