Constance (Connie) Koenig passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in Warroad, MN.

Connie was born in Red Lake Falls, MN on January 19, 1933 to Gustaf and Germaine Zaiser. She grew up in Warroad. Following High School graduation she attended the Minneapolis Business School. She worked in the Minneapolis area and then returned to Warroad and worked at the Roseau County Courthouse. She married Joseph Koenig on May 9, 1955 and they made their home in Warroad.

Connie worked for the Warroad School District for about 35 years in numerous roles, and especially enjoyed working in the Special Education Department. She volunteered for many years with the Special Olympics.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary, a longtime member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, serving as the organist for many years and involved with many other church responsibilities. Connie also served as a volunteer for the Warroad ambulance as an EMT.

She enjoyed activities such as cross-country skiing and fishing on Lake of the Woods with her special friend, Don Grahn. She enjoyed gathering with family and friends regularly for evening dinners, hosting Saturday morning coffee and the annual 4th of July celebrations at her home in Warroad.

Funeral services will be held in Warroad at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, February 7. Visitation begins at 10:00am and services will follow at 11:00am. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Interment will be held in the spring at St Mary’s Cemetery.

A special thanks to the staff of the Warroad Senior Living Center who provided exceptional care for Connie.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, brothers, Jim, Dale, Robert and Gary, grandson, Mike Haney and great grandson, Josh Haney.

She is survived by her 4 children Pam Koenig, Kathy (Allen) McKay, Joe (Kari) Koenig and Mike (Andrea) Koenig; grandchildren, Jason Haney, Naomi Houston, Christina Mesner, Samuel Moen, Jenna McKay, Kayla Hansen, Karly Koenig, Kellee Brown, Joseph Koenig, Jon Koenig, Jackson Koenig; great grandchildren, Rai Linn Clark-Long, Mikayela Haney, Cooper & Jayce Haney, Isabella & Jack Houston, Carter, Clair & Charlotte Mesner, Benjamin & Alexander Moen, Leo & Wyatt Hansen, Millee Brown; siblings, James Zaiser, Dale Zaiser, Nancy Lien, Robert Zaiser, Gary Zaiser; Many nieces and nephews.
