Eva (Sutliff) Pearson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025 — four days before what would have been her 90th birthday. A resident of Warroad, Minnesota, Eva was known for her warm heart, her unwavering faith, and her boundless generosity.
Born on May 29, 1935, Eva lived a life rooted in love and service. She was preceded in death by her father Samuel Merritt Sutliff, mother Elsie Margaret Stenbraaten devoted husband, Denis Gene Pearson, and by two dear daughters, Lucille Ann Pearson and Linda Lu Pearson, who passed in their youth. Despite heartbreak, Eva remained a pillar of strength and compassion for her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her two children, Gene Allen Pearson, his wife Karen and Kathy Diane (Pearson) Erickson and her husband Rodney, who will remember her as a nurturing mother and steady presence in their lives. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Kathy’s children Kevin James Zito and his wife Laura and Tracy Ann (Zito) Landsrud and her husband Rick; and Gene’s children Jeremy Gene Pearson and his wife Andrea, Nichole Elaine Pearson and her partner Phillip, Daniel Joseph Pearson and his wife Alicia, and Cayden Pearson-Blackhawk.
Eva was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Mason and Sophia (children of Kevin), Taylor, Kaden, Teagan, Sierra (children of Tracy), Preston, Peyton, and Aurora (children of Nichole), and Dustin and Destiny (children of Daniel).
Those who knew Eva will remember her for her deep love of family, her natural gift for hospitality, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. She had a special way of bringing people together — whether through a home-cooked meal, a heartfelt conversation, or simply her warm and loving presence. Eva found joy in caring for others and was always ready with a smile, a prayer, or a helping hand.
Faith was the cornerstone of Eva’s life. Her strong spiritual foundation guided her through every season, and she was a constant source of encouragement and comfort to those around her.
While her absence leaves a hole in our hearts, Eva’s life will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love, strength, and unwavering kindness will never be forgotten.
