THE FIRST OF TWO MAKEUP CONCERTS FOR THE NORTHERN LIGHTS CONCERT ASSOCIATION SEASON OF 2019-2020 THAT WAS INTERRUPTED BY THE PANDEMIC IS MONDAY EVENING, WITH JIM WITTER PERFORMING AN ELTON JOHN TRIBUTE ENTITLED CROCODILE ROCKIN’. IT BEGINS AT 7:30 PM IN THE ROSEAU SCHOOL THEATER. ANY MEMBERS WHO DID NOT RECEIVE THEIR TICKETS ARE ASKED TO COME TO THE SHOW AND RECEIVE YOUR TICKETS AT THE DOOR. ANY NEWCOMERS WHO BUY TICKETS FOR THE 2022-2023 SEASON WILL GET INTO THIS TWO MAKEUP SHOWS FOR FREE.

POLICE IN DULUTH GAVE MORE DETAIL ON THE FIVE PEOPLE FOUND DEAD INSIDE AN EAST HILLSIDE HOME. THE LATEST ON THE AVIAN FLU IN MINNESOTA SHOWS 50 SITES AFFECTED, WITH 2.3 MILLION BIRD INFECTED.

A PERSON WAS FOUND DEAD AND FLOATING IN A SLOUGH NEAR HAWLEY, AND AUTHORITIES SAY A VEHICLE CRASH IS TO BLAME FOR THEIR DEATH. THIS OCCURRED WEDNESDAY WHEN THE AREA WAS SEEING PERIOD OF HEAVY SNOW, BUT THEY HAVE NOT DETERMINED IF WEATHER WAS A FACTOR IN THE CRASH. NO IDENTIFICATION HAS BEEN RELEASED.

MULTIPLE SCHOOLS IN MINNESOTA, INCLUDING CLOQUET, RECEIVED BOMB THREATS YESTERDAY. THE MESSAGE WAS A RECORDING AND IDENTICAL TO ONE AT ESKO HIGH SCHOOL ABOUT A MONTH AGO. AUTHORITIES TREATED IT AS A LEGITIMATE THREAT, STUDENTS AND STAFF WERE EVACUATED, AND ALLOWED TO RETURN AFTER POLICE AND K-9 UNITS FOUND NO DEVICES.

AT A PUBLIC HEARING ON APRIL 12, THE ROSEAU COUNTY BOARD APPROVED A 2022 REDISTRICTING PLAN. THAT PLAN SET THE DISTRICTS WHICH THE FIVE COUNTY COMMISSIONER’S WILL SERVE. ALL COMMISSIONER’S WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE FOUR YEAR TERMS. DISTRICT 1, 3, AND 5 WILL BE PART OF THE 2022 ELECTION CYCLE.

THE MINNESOTA DNR HAS SET THE WALLEYE LIMIT FOR THE OPEN WATER SEASON ON UPPER RED LAKE AT 4, 1 OVER 20 INCHES. FISHING PRESSURE ON THE LAKE WAS HIGH OVER THE WINTER, BUT ANGLERS KEPT ONLY A MODEST NUMBER OF FISH, ALLOWING FOR A ROBUST POPULATION TO REMAIN. THAT SEASON OPENS MAY 14.

WE FEST CONCERT GOERS THIS SUMMER WILL EXPERIENCE A CASH FREE EXPERIENCE. ORGANIZERS SAY THEY WILL BE USING RFID WRISTBANDS FOR ADMISSION AND ALL PURCHASES FROM FOOD AND BEVERAGE TO SOUVENEIRS. ONCE GIVEN THE WRIST BAND IT WILL BE ACTIVATED AND YOU WILL LINK IT TO A FORM OF PAYMENT.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR BRIAN CLIFFORD OLSON WILL TAKE PLACE FRIDAY AFTERNOON (2 PM) AT HELGESON FUNERAL HOME IN WARROAD, WITH VISITATION AN HOUR PRIOR. INTERMENT WILL BEHELD AT PONEMAH CEMETERY.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR GERALD D. LEVASSEUR OF BAUDETTE WILL BE HELD FRIDAY AFTERNOON (1 PM) AT FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BAUDETTE FOLLOWED BY A MEMORIAL GATHERING AND MEAL. GERALD WAS 80.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JEAN TURESON OF GREENBUSH WILL BE HELD FRIDAY (11 AM) AT BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GREENBUSH.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JOY INMAN WILL BE HELD SATURDAY (10 AM) AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH IN WARROAD WITH VISITATION ONE HOUR PRIOR.

THE LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER MAY WALK-RUN, TO BENEFIT DIABETES, RETURNS THIS YEAR AS A FULL IN-PERSON EVENT. IT IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 7TH.

THE WANNASKA LIONS CLUB ARE HOLDING A PANCAKE BREAKFAST AND RAFFLE AS A FUNDRAISER FOR DAN BERGSTROM. THAT IS THIS SUNDAY FROM 8:00-1:00 AT THE WANNASKA COMMUNITY CENTER.

THE LOCATION FOR THE ROSEAU FATHER-DAUGHTER PROM HAS CHANGED TO THE ROSEAU SCHOOL, PREVIOUSLY IT WAS TO BE HELD AT THE CITY CENTER. THAT EVENT, ORGANIZED BY THE ROSEAU WOMEN OF TODAY, IS SUNDAY MAY 1 FROM 1-3 PM.

COMING OFF THE NEWS OF THE COMO ZOO’S 31 YEAR OLD SEA LION DYING, THE LAKE SUPERIOR ZOO IN DULUTH HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THEIR 14-YEAR OLD MALE AFRICAN LION HAS DIED. KEEPERS SAY LEO DIED IN HIS SLEEP FROM AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE.
