ROSEAU ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE WILL HOLD THEIR ANNUAL MEETING AND MEAL ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16. THE EVENT IS FROM 11-2 AT THE COOP.

THE GREENBUSH FIRE DEPARTMENT IS HOSTING AN EVENING FOR THE COMMUNITY ON OCTOBER 18TH THAT WILL FEATURE SAFETY DEMONSTRATIONS, KITCHEN FIRE SAFETY, AND AUTO EXTRICATION. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO ATTEND, THEY’LL SERVE A COMPLIMENTARY MEAL ALSO.

A FALL LIVESTOCK TOUR, HOSTED BY THE NORTHWESTERN STOCKMEN’S ASSOCIATION, WILL BE HELD NEXT SATURDAY AT 11 AM AT THE TOM OLSON FARM IN WILLIAMS. THEY’LL TALK GRAZING, COMPOSTING, SOIL HEALTHY, FEEDING OPTIONS AND MORE. THEY’LL SERVE A COMPLIMENTARY LUNCH. VENDORS AND AGENCIES WILL BE ON HAND AS WELL TO HANDLE QUESTIONS. UNION WORKERS AT THE HORMEL FOODS PLANT IN AUSTIN HAVE STRUCK A TENTAIVE CONTRACT AGREEMENT WITH THE COMPANY.

POLICE FOUND AN ABANDONED FOUR YEAR CHILD ALONG I-29, JUST SOUTH OF THE MINTO EXIT ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE MOTHER, 37-YEAR OLD ASHLEY JOHNSON, MADE HER FIRST COURT APPEARANCE YESTERDAY FACING CHARGES OF CHILD ABANDONMENT, CHILD NEGLECT, AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT. INITIALLY SHE HAD TOLD POLICE SHE HAD STOPPED ALONG SIDE THE ROAD TO HAVE A CIGARETTE, AND THAT THE CHILD HAD GOTTEN OUT WITHOUT HER REALIZING. SHE LATER CONFESSED SHE LEFT THE CHILD INTENTIONALLY, SAYING THEY’D BE “SAFER” WITH SOMEONE ELSE. THEY’VE ORDERED A PSYCH EVALUATION AND FOR HER TO SEE AN ADDICTIONS COUNSELOR. SHE FACES FIVE YEARS IN PRISON.

SUGARBEET FARMERS FROM NORTH DAKOTA AND MINNESOTA ARE DIGGING IN FOR THE HARVEST. THEY ARE EXPECTING IT TO BE AN AVERAGE OR ABOVE AVERAGE YIELD.

THE FARGO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY BOARD HAS HIRED ARCHITECTS AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS FOR A PLANNED PARKING RAMP THAT WOULD HAVE ALMOST 1000 STALLS. IT WOULD BE CONNECTED TO THE TERMINAL. THE COST WOULD BE AN ESTIMATED $40-$43 MILLION. CURRENTLY ALL PARKING AT THE AIRPORT IS ON OUTDOOR SURFACE LOTS. IT’S PART OF A LARGER PROJECT THAT IS LOOKING TO ADD FOUR MORE GATES TO THE TERMINAL.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mani Starren will be held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:30am. Visitation will be held one hour prior.
Mani was 34 years old.

A Funeral Service for Shannon L. Barnes of Warroad will take place Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Woodland Bible Church at 3:00pm with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will take place at Silent City Cemetery in Roosevelt.
