A PERSON WAS KILLED IN A SHOOTING AT THE MALL OF AMERICA ON FRIDAY. POLICE SAY THEY’VE ARRESTED FIVE PEOPLE, THREE 17-YEAR OLDS AND TWO 18-YEAR OLDS. A BLOOMINGTON OFFICER ON DUTY AT THE MALL SAW A CROWD RUNNING FROM THE NORDSTROM STORE AROUND 7:50 PM, AND AFTER GOING INSIDE FOUND THE 19-YEAR OLD VICTIM. THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN FIREARMS INCIDENTS AT THE MALL BEFORE, THIS IS THE FIRST FIREARMS FATALITY AT THE MALL OF AMERICA.

A 35TH ROSEAU BIRD COUNT IS SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONDAY. THEY’LL BEGIN WITH A 7 AM MEETING AT THE ROSEAU DINER. THE SURVEY COVERS A 15 MILE DIAMETER CIRCLE THAT IS CENTERED NEAR THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS.

THE THIEF RIVER FALLS AIRPORT HAS REACHED THE MILESTONE THEY WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO. THEY’VE BOARDED MORE THAN 8000 PASSENGERS IN 2022, A BENCHMARK THEY HADN’T SEEN IN 23 YEARS. THAT MEANS THE AIRPORT WILL RECEIVE $600,000 IN FAA IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FUNDS NEXT FISCAL YEAR. A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE OVER AIRPORTS THAT DO NOT REACH THAT NUMBER OF PASSENGERS.
