TODAY, GOVERNOR TIM WALZ IS SCHEDULED TO SIT DOWN FOR A BRIEFING WITH STATE AND FEDERAL PARTNERS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATE’S CURRENT SPRING FLOOD OUTLOOK AND PREPARATIONS THAT ARE HAPPENING ACROSS THE STATE.

MANY TOWNS IN NORTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA AND SOME IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA HAVE BEGUN SANDBAGGING OPERATIONS INCLUDING MAYVILLE, MINTO, AND RED LAKE FALLS. MOST TRIBUTARIES OFF THE RED RIVER ARE EXPECTING NO WORSE THAN MODERATE FLOODING, WHILE THOSE ALONG THE MAINSTREAM RED RIVER ARE EXPECTED TO REACH MAJOR FLOOD STAGE.

NDSU RELEASED THEIR 2022 CAREER OUTCOMES REPORT FOR GRADUATES FROM 2021 AND 2022 SHOWING THEY HAVE A 93% SUCCESS RATE IN THOSE GRADUATES EITHER FINDING WORK WITHIN 6 MONTHS, OR SAYING THAT THEY HAVE ENROLLED IN CONTINUING EDUCATION THROUGH GRADUATE PROGRAMS.

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ANNOUNCED SOME ROAD PROJECTS IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOR THIS SUMMER. THEY INCLUDE A RESURFACING AND ROUNDABOUT INSTALLATION ON HIGHWAY 59 SOUTH OF THIEF RIVER FALLS.
RESURFACING AND CULVERT REPLACEMENT ON HIGHWAY 32 BETWEEN GREENBUSH AND MIDDLE RIVER.
RESURFACING ON HIGHWAY 2, WEST OF BEMIDJI NEAR WHERE HIGHWAY 89 INTERSECTS.

NEXT WEEK IS SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK, AND ON THURSDAY, APRIL 20, A STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL WILL BE HELD. DRILLS WILL BE HELD AT 1:45 AND 6:45. ROSEAU COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WILL BE SENDING OUT A CODE RED ALERT DURING THAT AFTERNOON DRILL.
