39-YEAR OLD OSCAR ALFREDO ALFARO OF RED LAKE FALLS PLEADED NOT GUILTY YESTERDAY TO TWO COUNTS OF FIRST DEGREEE CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT. A RED LAKE COUNTY SOCIAL WORKER CONTACTED LAW ENFORCEMENT IN DEMCEBMER AFTER A REPORT FROM A 12-YEAR OLD GIRL THAT SHE HAD BEEN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED BY THE MAN MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CHARGES CARRY A MAX SENTENCE OF 30 YEARS IN PRISON.

A Funeral Service for Stephen J. Pulczinski will be held Thursday, April 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Badger at 2:00pm with a visitation an hour prior. A Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, April 26 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau from 5:00-7:00pm with a prayer service following at 7:00pm. Interment will be held at Malung Cemetery

AT A LATE MARCH SCHOOL BOARD MEETING, THE BOARD ACCEPTED THE RESIGNATIONS OF ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL AMY MCGUIRE, HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL JOE BRODERICK, AND MUSIC TEACHER BONNIE DEHLIN WENSLOFF, BOTH EFFECTIVE AT THE END OF THE CURRENT CONTRACT YEAR.

THE ROSEAU EAGLES AUXILIARY SERVE THEIR ANNUAL SOUP AND SALAD LUNCHEON THIS THURSDAY AT THE ROSEAU EVENT CENTER FROM 11:00-1:00. IT IS DINE IN OR TAKE OUT. PROCEEDS GO BACK TO LOCAL CHARITIES.

THEY ARE EXPECTED TO RAMP UP TO 30,000 SOON, AND WHEN AT FULL CAPACITY WILL PROCESS 49,000 BARRELS PER DAY. THAT REFINERY HAS SINCE BEEN BOUGHT BY CENOVOUS, HEADQUARTERED IN CALGARY.

ONE OF THE AREAS NEWEST BREWERIES, RIVERS AND RAILS BREWING IN THIEF RIVER FALLS, WON THE BEST BEER AWARD LAST WEEK AT A FESTIVAL IN GRAND FORKS. IT WAS FOR THEIR WEST COAST IPA.
