A HOUSE FIRE IN ROSEAU THAT TOOK THE LIFE OF 64-YEAR OLD DAVID RINDE REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION. FIRE CREWS WERE CALLED OUT AT 1:05 AM ON MARCH 6 TO THE HOME IN OAK MANOR TRAILER COURT. HE WAS REMOVED, CPR WAS PERFORMED, BUT HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AFTER BEING TRANSPORTED TO LIFECARE MEDICAL CENTER.

BORDER BANK AND NORTHERN AG WILL BE CELEBRATING AG DAY ON TUESDAY, MARCH 19. THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND OPEN HOUSES AT THE NORTHERN AG OFFICES IN THIEF RIVER FALLS AND ROSEAU, AND AT BORDER BANK LOCATIONS IN THIEF RIVER FALLS, ROSEAU, GREENBUSH, BADGER, MIDDLE RIVER, AND BAUDETTE.

RED LAKE NATION WILL RECEIVE $600,000 IN FEDERAL FUNDING TO HELP CONNECT TRIBAL HOMES TO CLEAN ELECTRICITY, INCLUDING HOMES THAT PREVIOUSLY DIDN’T HAVE ELECTRICITY AT ALL. THE GRANTS WERE MADE POSSIBLE BY THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT, AND HAD SUPPORT OF MINNESOTA SENATORS TINA SMITH AND AMY KLOBUCHAR.

ROSEAU’S KNOWLEDGE BOWL TEAM MISSED OUT ON A TRIP TO STATE AFTER FINISHING 6TH AT A REGIONAL MEET IN THIEF RIVER FALLS THIS WEEK. THE TOP FOUR TEAMS ADVANCE. FOSSTON, THIEF RIVER FALLS, BEMIDJI, AND WARROAD HAD TEAMS THAT DID ADVANCE.

THE CROOKSTON CITY COUNCIL IS LOOKING INTO CHANGES OF IT’S ALCOHOL ORDINANCE THAT COULD OPEN THE DOOR FOR A BREWERY OR MICRO-BREWERY TO OPERATE IN THE CITY. RIGHT NOW, THE ORDINANCE SAYS THEY COULD NOT. THEY DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER, AS TO MAKE SURE THERE WERE NOT UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES THAT COULD HURT EXISTING BUSINESSES.

THE CITY OF THIEF RIVER FALLS AND MNDOT WILL HOLD A PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE TODAY FROM 4-6:30 PM REGARDING A HIGHWAY 59 CORRIDOR STUDY. THEY WILL NOT HAVE ANY OFFICIAL PRESENTATIONS MADE DURING THE MEETING, BUT WILL DISCUSS ALL ASPECTS OF SAFETY FOR THAT STRETCH OF HIGHWAY.

A Funeral Service for Mavis L. Brandt of Roseau, MN will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 11:00AM at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 5-7PM with a family service at 7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Interment will take place at Moe – Rose Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Mavis passed away on March 11, 2024 at the age of 79.

THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY WILL HONOR THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION POST 24 WITH A 105TH BIRTHDAY PARTY ON SUNDAY MARCH 17. ALL LEGION AND SAL MEMBER ARE INVITED WITH SPOUSES OR PARTNERS. A SOCIAL HOUR BEGINS AT 5:30 WITH SUPPER AT 6:00.
