POLICE WERE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING IN SOUTH GRAND FORKS YESTERDAY, AFTER A MAN WAS FOUND DEAD IN A DRIVEWAY AND A WOMAN IN THE NEARBY APARTMENT HAD SUFFERED A GUN SHOT WOUND. POLICE DESCRIBED THE EVENT AS A “DOMESTIC INCIDENT INVOLVING A FIREARM” AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A MURDER SUICIDE INVOLVING A MOTHER AND SON, BOTH ARE ADULTS.

ENROLLMENT DECLINES AT NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY WILL LEAD TO A $10.5 MILLION CUT IN STATE FUNDING THROUGH THE 2025 BUDGET FORCING MAJOR REALIGNMENT TO UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS, ACCORDING TO NDSU PRESIDENT DAVID COOK. THAT IS A CUT OF ABOUT 5%. ENROLLMENT HAS BEEN DROPPING AT THE SCHOOL SINCE 2014, NOW DOWN 13%, WHICH REFLECTS A NATIONWIDE TREND.

THE MINNESOTA DNR ANNOUNCED NEW WALLEYE LIMITS FOR ICE FISHING THIS WINTER ON UPPER RED LAKE. THAT LIMIT WILL BE THREE FISH DAILY, WITH ONLY ONE OVER 17 INCHES. LAST YEAR’S LIMIT WAS FOUR FISH, AS THEY TRIED TO CUT POPULATION SLIGHTLY. THEY NOW DETERMINE THIS YEAR’S SPAWNING POPULATION TO BE HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE.

ROSEAU COUNTY 4-H IS HOSTING A HAUNTED HOUSE THIS WEEKEND, WITH HALF OF ADMISSION PROCEEDS GOING TO ROSEAU COUNTY FOOD SHELVES. THE HAUNTED HOUSE IS SATURDAY, AT THE FAIRGROUNDS, FROM 6-10 PM. THERE IS A FIVE DOLLAR ADMISSION.

AHEAD OF DEER SEASON, REPORTS ARE SAYING THAT A NATIONAL AMMUNITION SHORTAGE IS EASING, BUT SOME CALIBERS ARE STILL MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND THAN OTHERS.
