DUE TO BUDGET RESTRAINTS, ACTIVITY FEES FOR STUDENTS IN THIEF RIVER FALLS WILL HAVE SIGNIFICANT INCREASES NEXT YEAR. PRETTY MUCH ALL ATHLETICS FEES WILL DOUBLE, AND OTHER PROGRAMS SUCH AS ROBOTICS AND KNOWLEDGE BOWL WILL GO TO AN EVEN $50. MUSICAL PROGRAMS THAT DIDN’T HAVE ANY ACTIVITY FEE BEFORE, WILL NOW BE $50 TO PARTICIPATE. SPECTATOR FEES WILL GO TO $8 FOR ADULTS AND $6 FOR STUDENTS. THEY ARE ALSO LOOKING AT ELIMINATING THE NUMBER OF COACHES IN CERTAIN ACTIVITIES AND ALSO AT REDUCING THE NUMBER OF GAMES.

NEXT WEEK IS SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK, AND STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILLS WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 11. PLAN FOR SIRENS TO SOUND AT 1:45 PM AND 6:45 PM. OTHERWISE, EACH DAY OF THE WEEK HAS A DIFFERENT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT THAT IS HIGHLIGHTED.

SMALL BUSINESSES AND NON PROFITS ARE INVITED TO APPLY FOR PROMISE ACT GRANTS. THOSE APPLICATIONS CAN BE MADE TO THE NORTHWEST MINNESOTA FOUNDATION. THERE IS $2.3 MILLION IN TOTAL, AND GRANTS CAN BE UP TO A MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF $50,000.

THE WANNASKA LIONS WILL SERVE A PANCAKE BREAKFAST BENEFIT FOR ROBERT GRUGAL THIS SUNDAY AT THE WANNASKA COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 8A-1P. THAT WILL ASSIST IN MEDICAL EXPENSES FROM A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
