ONE YEAR AGO, MINNESOTA JOINED THE NATION IN INTRODUCING A SIMPLE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS HOTLINE OF DIALING 988 AND IT APPEARS TO BE A SUCCESS. IN MAY, THERE WAS A 74% INCREASE IN CALLS OVER LAST MAY. ALL IN STATE CALLS ARE NOW ROUTED TO ONE OF FOUR REGIONAL CENTERS, INSTEAD OF EVER REACHING A NATIONWIDE CALL CENTER, WHICH OPERATES SAYS LEADS TO BETTER SUPPORT.

THE GOODRIDGE SCHOOL WILL BE PROPOSING A $21.35 MILLION BOND REFERENDUM TO DISTRICT VOTERS THIS NOVEMBER THAT WILL FOCUS ON RENOVATIONS AND ADDITIONS. THOSE PRIORITIES INCLUDE HEATING AND VENTILATION IMPROVEMENTS, A SECURE MAIN ENTRANCE WITH RELOCATED DISTRICT OFFICE, EXPANDED AREAS TO SUPPORT CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION, AND ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM AND GYMNASIUM SPACE.

THE ROSEAU COUNTY FAIR PARADE IS IN ONE WEEK. PARADE LINEUP NEXT TUESDAY WILL BEGIN AT 4 PM, THAT ALONG 3RD STREET IN ROSEAU NEAR THE POLARIS WATER TOWER. JUDGING OF FLOATS WILL BEGIN AT 5:00, WITH ROSEAU DOUGH PRIZES FOR THE TOP 3. THE PARADE ROLLS OUT AT 5:30.

THERE IS A CONCERT SCHEDULED FOR THIS THURSDAY AT ROSEAU’S RIVERVIEW PARK GAZEBO, AS SLOUGHGRASS WILL TAKE TO THE STAGE. LIFECARE WILL SERVE A FUNDRAISING MEAL. THERE IS NO CONCERT FOR NEXT WEEK.

A CANCER SURVIVOR PICNIC IS BEING HELD THIS WEDNESDAY EVENING AT THE ROSEAU CITY PARK. IT BEGINS AT 6:30 AND KATHY MAGNUSSON WILL BE A SPEAKER AT 7:00. THEY’LL HAVE LIGHT REFRESHMENTS. ON THAT NOTE, RELAY FOR LIFE OF ROSEAU COUNTY WILL BE HELD AUGUST 17 AT THE GAZEBO IN ROSEAU.
