UNOFFICIAL RESULTS FROM YESTERDAY’S PRIMARY ELECTION FOR A ROSEAU COUNTY COMMISSIONER IN DISTRICT FOUR SAW KERMIT JENSEN AND TIM PALMQUIST RECEIVE THE MOST VOTES AND WOULD APPEAR ON THE BALLOT FOR THE ELECTION IN AUGUST. JENSEN RECEIVED OVER 300 VOTES, PALMQUIST RECEIVED 76.

WEEKLY CONSERVATION OFFICER REPORTS SHOW MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF BADGER-AREA RESIDENTS VIOLATING THE DEER-FEEDING BAN, ALONG WITH CHECKING ON TURKEY HUNTERS, INCLUDING A TRESPASS COMPLAINT IN THE THIEF RIVER FALLS AREA. A NUISANCE BEAR THAT HAD BEEN SHOT BY A LANDOWNER WAS SURRENDERED TO THE DNR.

MOST NORTHERN MINNESOTA LAKES SHOULD BE ICE FREE BY THIS WEEKEND’S FISHING OPENER, BUT THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE FOR LAKE OF THE WOODS WHERE THEY EXPECT THAT COULD STILL BE LARGE ICE CHUNKS IN THE WATER. THE WARMER TEMPS WERE SEEING NOW, AND LAST WEEK’S HIGH WINDS HELPED TO SPEED THAT PROCESS.

POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED A MOTORIST KILLED ON HIGHWAY 61 BETWEEN DULUTH AND TWO HARBORS WHEN A LARGE ROCK WENT RHOUGH HER WINDSHILD. 56-YEAR OLD KAY SPIELMAN OF COOK COUNTY WAS KILLED BY WHAT IS DESCRIBED AS A SOFTBALL-SIZED ROCK. AUTHORITES ARE INVESTIGATING WHAT CAUSED THE ROCK TO BECOME A PROJECTILE.

THE ROSEAU HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR CONCERT IS THIS EVENING, AND GRADES 1-3 IN THE ROSEAU ELEMENTARY HAVE THEIR SPRING CONCERT ON THURSDAY AT BOTH 10 AM AND 2 PM.
