Today’s Covid-19 Update for Friday, October 30 2020

10/30/2020

Roseau County has 365 Positive Cases; with 20 new cases reported today; 90  ACTIVE Cases; 275 having recovered (out of isolation).

The latest update from the Minnesota Department of Health states there have been 3,165 new positive tests for COVID-19 between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 4 p.m. Thursday, of which 11 were removed for a total of 3,154.

The 18 new deaths meanwhile bring the state’s total deaths to 2,437. Twelve of the newly reported deaths were in long-term care, according to Friday’s update from MDH.

Long-term care facilities now account for 1,701 of Minnesota’s 2,437 deaths, and comes as health officials say the virus is being brought in typically by staff, many of whom are themselves are contracting it from small social gatherings.

The MDH reported 32,850 diagnostic PCR tests and an additional 1,060 antigen tests for a total of 33,910 completed tests.

Those tests were from 16,323 people tested. Patients are often tested multiple times, so the more accurate reading for test positivity rate is based on the total number of people tested, which today is 19.3%.

The positivity rate for Friday when total cases is divided by total tests is 9.3%. Health experts say positivity rates need to be below the 5% mark to control the spread of the virus.
