10/11/2022

A Memorial Service for Wendy A. Von Ende of Badger, MN will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wendy Ann (Hansen) Von Ende was born the youngest of nine children to Curtis and Beatrice Hansen on March 1, 1967 at the Monticello-Big Lake Memorial Hospital in Monticello, MN.

As a young child she lived in Big Lake, MN until they moved to Becker, MN. Growing up she loved seeing her siblings as she was several years younger and they loved seeing her. She enjoyed sneaking the baby farm animals into the house to play with.

Wendy met the love of her life, Rick Von Ende, at the age of 15. They married on June 23, 1984 when she was 17. On August 25, 1984 she gave birth to her oldest daughter, Andrea, and on June 4, 1986 to youngest daughter, Amanda.

On October 31, 1991, Wendy, Rick, and the girls moved north to Roseau County (Badger).

Wendy’s biggest pride and joy was her family and the life she and Rick built. She enjoyed spending time doing anything that involved her family. Camping, playing games, gardening (and canning) and just walking around the yard holding her husband’s hand are just a few examples. She enjoyed sitting by a fire at home watching the stars and the northern lights, listening to music and dancing around with her kids and spouse.

She never had a lot of spare time but when she did, she filled it crocheting, reading, or doing crossword puzzles.

Wendy was a dedicated, hard-working woman. For the past 13 years she worked at the Roseau County Sheriff’s office as a jailer/dispatcher. Prior to that, she worked at Polaris for 13 years.

Wendy Ann Von Ende passed away on October 8, 2022 in her home surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Von Ende; daughters Andrea Von Ende and Amanda Von Ende (Matt Foster); brother Terry (Sandy) Hansen, sisters Cindy Hansen, Anita (Ralph) Hamacher; sisters-in-law Mary Anne Von Ende, Karen (Norm) Johnson, Marie Von Ende, Sue Wallum Von Ende; brother-in-law Tony (Janet) Von Ende.

Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Curtis and Beatrice Hansen; mother and father-in-law, LaVerna and Albert Von Ende; siblings Janet Madsen, Debbie Hansen, Steve Hansen, Brian Hansen, and baby Curtis Hansen; as well as brothers-in-law Donnie Von Ende and Donnie Hunter; sister-in-law Patsy Hunter; and several aunts and uncles.

Wendy was an amazing wife, mother, aunt, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by every life she touched.
