THE “WE ARE WATER MN” EXHIBIT REMAINS ON DISPLAY AT THE ROSEAU COUNTY MUSEUM THROUGH OCTOBER 9. TOMORROW AND NEXT SATURDAY, THE MUSEUM IS OPEN 10-3 WITH ADDITIONAL FUN WATER ACTIVITIES AND SCAVENGER HUNTS.
ON SUNDAY THEY HAVE A DANISH MUSICAL ENTERTAINER AT 6 PM, WITH A MEAL SERVED AT 5:00.

FOOD SHELVES, THE VOLUNTEERS, AND THE FAMILIES THAT USE THEM ARE BRACING FOR A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, ONE THAT IF IT HAPPENS, COULD LAST A FEW WEEKS. DEMAND HAS BEEN RISING EVER SINCE THE PANDEMIC, AND IF MORE FAMILIES FIND THEMSELVES WITHOUT WORK, THEY MAY LOOK TO A FOOD SHELF FOR ASSISTANCE. THEY ALSO NOTE THAT IN A LONGER SHUTDOWN, THE WIC PROGRAM COULD RUN OUT OF FUNDING, ALTHOUGH THE PROGRAM WILL NOT BE AFFECTED SIMPLY BECAUSE A SHUTDOWN HAPPENS.

AN AARP SCORECARD HAS PLACED MINNESOTA AS THE BEST STATE FOR OVERALL LONG-TERM CARE PERFORMANCE. IT LOOKS AT SAFETY, QUALITY, AFFORDABILITY AND ACCESS TO THE CARE. THE STATE ALSO RANKED NUMBER 1 IN THE “SUPPORT FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS” CATEGORY. IT WASN’T ALL GOOD NEWS, MINNESOTA PERFORMED WELL IN THE ACCESS TO CARE, THE QUALITY, AND THE SUPPORT GIVEN TO THE WORKERS, BUT RANKED NEAR THE BOTTOM IN THE AFFORDABILITY CATEGORY.

THE ROSEAU WOMEN OF TODAY WILL BE DISTRIBUTING THE WINTER CLOTHING ITEMS THAT WERE DONATED THROUGH SEPTEMBER ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 2 AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER. THEY WILL DO SO FROM 6-9 AM AND ALSO 2-5 PM. ANYONE IN NEED IS WELCOME. ALL ITEMS ARE FREE.

A Memorial Service for Daniel D. Hammer of Warroad, MN will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 4:00PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Daniel passed away at the age of 17.
