REPRESENTATIVE MICHELLE FISHBACH ISSUED A STATEMENT REGARDING THE CONTINUING APPROPRIATIONS ACT THAT EXTENDED GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR 45 DAYS AND AVOIDED THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. SHE NOTED SHE WAS A SUPPORTER OF THE SPENDING REDUCTION AND BORDER SECURITY ACT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MORE PERMANENT SOLUTIONS, BUT THAT WAS SHUT DOWN BY DEMOCRATS AND SOME REPUBLICANS.

AS OF YESTERDAY, THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A DRIVERS LICENSE WITHOUT LEGAL PROOF OF RESIDENCY IN THE UNITE STATES. AN ESTIMATED 81,000 PEOPLE IN THE STATE COULD BENEFIT FROM THAT CHANGE. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSIONER BOB JACOBSEN SAID THOSE WHO NEED TO USE THE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT EXPECT ANY SLOWDOWN IN SERVICES, THEY ARE READY TO HANDLE THE CHANGE.

THE ROSEAU TIMES REGION THIS WEEK HAS A STORY ON ROSEAU COUNTY VETERAN’S SERVICES OFFICER MARTY HOWES, AND HOW HE HAS BEEN SERVING AS PRESIDENT OF THE STATEWIDE ORGANIZATION REPRESENTING COUNTY OFFICERS. HE STEPPED DOWN FROM THAT PRESIDENTS POSITION IN SEPTEMBER.

A Memorial Service for Daniel D. Hammer of Warroad, MN will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 4:00PM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Daniel passed away at the age of 17.

A 37TH ANNUAL BANQUET OF THE ROSEAU RIVER CHAPTER OF THE MINNESOTA DEER HUNTERS ASSOCIATION IS ONE WEEK FROM TODAY. THAT’S HELD AT HT ROSEAU CITY CENTER. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE.
