LAST WEEK, GOVERNOR WALZ ANNOUNCED THAT OVER 1500 MINNESOTA STUDENTS ARE ENROLLED IN TUITION-FREE PATHWAYS TO HIGH-NEED CAREERS. THE MINNESOTA FUTURE TOGETHER PROGRAM WAS LAUNCHED IN 2021 USING AMERICAN RECOVERY ACT FUNDS, AND WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE FOR ELIGIBLE STUDENTS THROUGH 2024. THE PROGRAM COVERS CAREERS AIMED AT A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT AREAS.

MANY PEOPLE HAVE ONE QUESTION WHEN IT COMES TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES, WHERE EXACTLY AM I GOING TO CHARGE THESE THINGS? NORTH DAKOTA IS PROPOSING A PLAN THAT WOULD INSTALL CHARGING STATIONS, ONCE EVERY 50 MILES, ALONG INTERSTATES THAT I-94 AND I-29 THAT RUN THROUGH THE STATE. THE PROGRAM WOULD COME WITH ABOUT $25 MILLION IN FEDERAL SUPPORT, WITH THE STATE PORTION ONLY BBING AROUND $6 MILLION.

THE RED LAKE BAND WILL BE OFFERING A TRIBAL ELK SEASON THAT BEGINS SEPTEMBER 15. JUST FIVE TAGS WILL BE OFFERED BY LOTTERY. THE HUNT WILL TAKE PLACE IN OFF-RESERVATION LAND COVERED BY THE OLD CROSSING TREATY SIGNED WITH THE US GOVERNMENT IN 1863. MUCH OF THAT LAND IS IN NORTHWEST MINNESOTA.

DATES FOR HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION IN ROSEAU COUNTY ARE COMING IN EARLY SEPTEMBER. A DATE FOR DROP OFF OF MATERIALS IN WARROAD IS SEPTEMBER 1, IN ROSEAU ON SEPTEMBER 8, AND IN BADGER AND GREENBUSH ON SEPTEMBER 9.

ROSEAU ELEMENTARY IS HOSTING AN OPEN HOUSE AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31 FROM 5:00-7:30.
