GOVERNOR WALZ SIGNED TWO BILLS INTO LAW YESTERDAY, ONE OF THEM WILL PROVIDE $50 MILLION FOR THE RURAL FINANCE AUTHORITY AT THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE TO CONTINUE PROVIDING AG LOANS. HE SAYS THE RFA WILL CONTINUE TO PRIORITIZE BEGINNING FARMER LOANS, SELLER-SPONSORED LOANS, AND AG IMPROVEMENT LOANS. THE BILL WILL PROVIDE PROGRAM FUNDS FOR TWO TO THREE YEARS.

IT’S THE REMINDER THAT ALL FIRST HALF TAXES ON ALL REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY ARE DUE BY MONDAY THE 15TH. PAYMENTS CAN BE MADE AT THE TREASURER’S OFFICE AND ALSO ONLINE. THERE IS A SMALL CONVENIENCE FEE FOR USING CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS OR E-CHECKS.

THE THIEF RIVER FALLS CITY COUNCIL VOTED TO SUSPEND CITY ADMINISTRATOR ANGIE PHILIPP FOR ONE WEEK. THAT WAS DONE ON MAY 2ND AND THE SUSPENSION ENDS TODAY. THE MAYOR AND FIVE MEMBERS VOTED IN FAVOR WHILE TWO VOTED IN OPPOSITION. IT’S RELATED TO A PERFORMANCE REVIEW THAT REVEALED SHE HAD ERRONEOUSLY ISSUED BACK PAY TO TO CERTAIN PEOPLE AND THAT THE ERROR WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE FOR A SECOND PAY PERIOD.

LAST WEEK, A WARREN MAN WAR CHARGED IN MARSHALL COUNTY DISTRICT COURT WITH FOUR COUNTS OF FELONY SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT, AND OTHER CHARGES AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY POINTED A SHOTGUN AT FOUR PEOPLE IN A WARREN HOME AND THEN FIRED THE SHOTGUN THROUGH THE CEILING. 41- YEAR OLD JEREMIAH ADAM ANDERSON WAS ARRESTED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT AFTER AUTHORITIES ARRIVED. THOSE IN THE HOUSE WERE REPORTEDLY HIS WIFE, HER TWO CHILDREN, AND HER SISTER.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR MEMORIE TOFT WILL BE HELD TOMORROW (10 AM) AT PINE GROVE LUTHERAN CHURCH IN ROSEAU, WITH VISITATION AN HOUR PRIOR. INTERMENT WILL BE HELD AT PINE GROVE CEMETERY.

TODAY IS THE PRIMARY ELECTION IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE RUN FOR A COUNTY COMMISSIONER IN DISTRICT 4. ON THE BALLOT ARE BRETT CREGER, KYLE COLE, RICK JENSON, KERMIT JENSEN, GERLAD LANDBY, TIM PALMQUIST, AND MIKE TESAREK.
