PRESIDENT BIDEN WILL BE IN THE STATE TOMORROW IN WHAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS CALLING A RURAL EVENT SERIES, THAT WILL HIGHLIGHT HOW THEIR INVESTING IN AMERICA AGENDA IS HELPING RURAL AMERICANS.

GOVERNOR WALZ HAS SIGNED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER THAT WILL ELIMINATE A REQUIREMENT OF A HAVING A FOUR-YEAR COLLEGE DEGREE FOR MOST STATE GOVERNMENT JOBS. HE SAID “THAT BY REMOVING THESE REQUIREMENTS, WE’RE EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE, CHOOSE STATE SERVICE, AND BUILD A GOOD-PAYING, FAMILY-SUSTAINING CAREER.”

THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION INVITES THE PUBLIC TO REVIEW THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT WORKSHEET FOR A HIGHWAY 11 IMPROVEMENT PROJECT BETWEEN ROSEAU AND WARROAD. THAT PROPOSED PROJECT WILL INVOLVE RESURFACING, REALIGHMENT NEAR THE ROSEAU AIRPORT, AND A WIDENING OF A SHORT SECTION INTO THREE LANES. PUBLIC COMMENT IS WELCOME UNTIL NOVEMBER 27.

A public visitation for Ashlyn Odor of Warroad, MN will be held tomorrow from 10:00 AM – 12:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN.
Ashlyn passed away at the age of 15.

THE MINNESOTA DNR DOES CONTINUE WITH SLASH PILE BURNING OPERATIONS THIS WEEK IN THE BELTRAMI FOREST.

A 16-YEAR OLD IS IN CUSTODY AFTER BRANDISHING A FIREARM AT A UND FRATERNITY OVER THE WEEKEND. HE WAS BROUGHT TO POLICE BY PARENTS AFTER THEY LEARNED ABOUT THE EVENT. AUTHORITIES BELIEVE THE FIREARM WAS A PELLET GUN. THE UNIVERSITY IS REVIEWING IT’S COMMUNICATIONS PROTOCOL FOLLOWING THE EVENT.

UNDOUBTEDLY A STORY WILL SURFACE IN MINNESOTA AT SOME POINT THIS WINTER, BUT THOSE IN NORTH DAKOTA HAVE BEGUN THE ANNUAL PROCESS OF NAMING A SNOW PLOW. THEY ARE TAKING SUGGESTIONS UNTIL NOVEMBER 20.

A MOOSE CROSSING HIGHWAY 53, SOUTH OF EVELETH, ON SATURDAY NIGHT CAUSED A TWO VEHICLE CRASH, WHILE A THIRD SWERVED TO GO INTO THE DITCH. ONE TEENAGER WAS AIRLIFTED WITH SERIOUS INJURIES. THEIR VEHICLE MADE DIRECT IMPACT WITH THE MOOSE, WHICH WAS ALSO HIT BY THE SECOND VEHICLE.

54-YEAR OLD ROGER ALLEN BELDO IS IN CUSTODY AFTER A DOUBLE HOMICIDE ON THE IRON RANGE. THE BODIES OF 78-YEAR OLD CLIFFORD JOHNSON AND 79-YEAR OLD CHRISTINE JOHNSON WERE FOUND IN THEIR BABBITT HOME. THE SUSPECT, WHO HAS NO PERMANENT ADDRESS, WAS REPORTEDLY STAYING WITH THEM AT THE TIME. A MOTIVE HAD NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED.
