ROSEAU CITY SUPERINTENDENT DAVID DROWN WILL BE RETIRING ON DECEMBER 31, AND THE CITY COUNCIL HAS BEGUN THE PROCESS OF SELECTING A NEW ONE. COUNCIL MEMBER BRADY JOHNSON SAID THEY HAD RECEIVED 13 APPLICATIONS BY THE DEADLINE EARLIER THIS MONTH.

THE MINNESOTA MAIN FIREARMS DEER SEASON OPENS THIS WEEKEND, WITH IT, COMES ANOTHER DIVA DAY IN ROSEAU. THEY’LL HAVE VENDORS AND EVENTS AT THE ROSEAU CITY CENTER FROM 10-3, WITH DOOR PRIZES, A LUNCH AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE, AND IT’S FREE ADMISSION. THERE IS ALSO A DIAMONDAS AND DESIGNER PURSE BINGO AT THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION ON THE 2ND WEEKEND (NOVEMBER 11).

A ROSEAU RAMS HOCKEY SPAGHETTI FEED IS WEDNESDAY EVENING AT THE ROSEAU AMERICAN LEGION.

A Funeral Service for Brett E. Gustafson of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 2:00PM at Free Lutheran Church of Roseau. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Hope Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Brett Gustafson was 45.

AUTHORITIES IN PILLAGER RECEIVED A CALL LATE FRIDAY FROM A 46-YEAR OLD WOMAN SAYING A MAN SHE KNOWS HAD COME INTO HER RESIDENCE AND HAD TAKEN A FIREARM WITHOUT HER PERMISSION. THE 31-YEAR OLD MAN’S NAME WAS NOT RELEASED. WHEN POLICE ARRIVED THEY OBSERVED THE MAN IN THE GARAGE AND WHEN THEY ENTERED DISCOVERED HE WAS SUFFERING FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUN SHOT WOUND. THE EXTENT OF THE INJURIES WAS NOT KNOWN.

THE KWIK TRIP CHAIN OF CONCENIENCE STORES IN LOOKING TO GET INTO NORTH DAKOTA FOR THE FIRST TIME. THEY HAVE TWO FARGO LOCATIONS PLANNED. ONE WILL BE NEAR THE INTERSECTIONS OF I-94 AND I-29, THE OTHER ALONG 45TH STREET SOUTH AT 37TH AVENUE.
