Despite being within five points of the final playoff spot, the Pioneer Press reports that  the Minnesota Wild faced a dire situation midway through their season, languishing near the bottom of the Western Conference. A 7-2 defeat  last night to the Dallas Stars further compounded their struggles, making it a dismal 1-6-0 record in their last seven games. The Stars, dominating the season series 3-0, showcased their prowess, dealing a blow to the Wild’s playoff aspirations and spoiling the NHL debut of goaltender Jesper Wallstedt.

Despite a same-day flight and missing two starters, the Minnesota Timberwolves displayed resilience in a hard-fought battle against the Celtics in Boston, ultimately succumbing 127-120 in overtime. The team, dealing with jet lag and roster challenges, nearly secured an improbable victory against the NBA-leading Celtics, but a late-game collapse and a stellar performance from Jayson Tatum turned the potential triumph into a painful defeat. Despite noteworthy efforts from various players, including Kyle Anderson, Anthony Edwards, and Karl-Anthony Towns, the Wolves couldn’t muster the defensive stops needed to secure the win.

The Minnesota Vikings, anticipating the next season, have unveiled their list of opponents, although the official schedule will be released in May. Home matchups include the Lions, Packers, Bears, 49ers, Cardinals, Texans, Colts, Falcons, and Jets, while the road games feature contests against the Lions, Packers, Bears, Rams, Seahawks, Jaguars, Titans, and Giants. The upcoming season’s opponents span the NFC North, NFC West, AFC South, and additional teams based on their third-place finishes in their respective divisions.

The Star Tribune reported this week that the Minnesota Twins’ TV broadcast future remains uncertain just months before the start of the season, with a scheduled bankruptcy court hearing delayed by 10 days. The hearing is expected to establish parameters for the Twins and 11 other teams to be shown on Bally channels in 2024. Amidst these uncertainties, recent reports indicate that MLB rejected a proposed partnership between Diamond Sports and Amazon for a multiyear streaming deal worth roughly $150 million, possibly signaling MLB’s interest in a short-term extension with Diamond/Bally Sports for the upcoming season.
